Teachers
At the heart of our program, there are specially trained teachers to guide and
encourage your child. Early Horizons’ teachers are chosen not only
for their experience and training in early childhood education, but for their
warmth
and enthusiasm as well. Our teachers respect each child’s need to experience
the joy and challenge of doing things themselves; because that's what helps children
excel, and that's our mission at Early Horizons. |
Directors
We have two fantastic directors: Christine Smith and Tracy Erwin. Each has
over 20 years of experience in Early Childhood, degrees in Child Development,
and each is a mom themselves. What Tracy loves about Early Horizons is
that it “is a large environment with the intimate personal attention
of a small center.” Christine has been a part of Early Horizons
since 1995. She was drawn to Early Horizons initially because of the
diversity and the developmental play-based philosophy which closely matched
her own philosophy. Both directors have enjoyed being a part of Early
Horizons’ quest for excellence with each passing year.
The Directors hours are
6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and appointments are available from 4-6
p.m. |

Early
Horizons was established in 1984 by Shelly Bokman and Sue Leto
Cole. Both women hold Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Child
Development. Together they recognized a need for quality care
and education of young children, as well as support for their
families. Since 1984 each has had three children of their own,
allowing them to know first hand both the challenges and joys
of parenthood. In addition, Shelly and Sue publish Sacramento
Parent Magazine, a monthly resource for families living in
the greater Sacramento area.
